Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association Presents
Emergency Responder Communication
Enhancement System (ERCES) for AHJs - 4 hrs.
Instructor: Justin Sprague, FM, LEO (Retired) - Honeywell
(4 Contact hours approved for Fire Code Administrator and Fire Safety Inspector)
Today's codes and standards, including IBC Section 918, IFC Section 510, NFPA Section 11.10, NFPA 1221 Section 9.6, and NFPA 1225 Chapter 18, require all buildings to have approved radio coverage for emergency responders. This coverage must be based on the existing public safety communication systems available at the exterior of the building.
Upon completion of this training, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) will have an understanding of the requirements for Emergency Radio Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) as outlined in the IFC and NFPA. Participants will learn to interpret site survey reports and identify the advantages and disadvantages of various types of surveys. They will gain a basic understanding of when an ERCES is required or may not be necessary, as well as the fundamental concepts of these systems and their major components.
Additionally, the training will cover the plan review, acceptance, and commissioning processes for ERCES. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to conduct plan reviews and basic inspections of installed systems.
The class has been approved for four (4) hours of CEUs for Fire Code Administrator, and Fire Safety Inspector I&II.
