This 6-hour course explores the latest advancements in Intumescent Coatings and Fire-Retardant solutions, covering their applications for structural steel, engineered wood, firewalls, interior furnishings, fabrics, plastics, and fiberglass. Attendees will learn how these solutions enhance fire resistance and safety across diverse substrates. The course includes a live burn demonstration, showcasing the performance and capabilities of Intumescent Coatings and Fire-Retardants applied to materials such as wood, fabric, plastics, and foam.

Christopher G. Birchfield (Chris) founded Global Fireproof Solutions, Inc. (GFS) to continue an integral role in building code advancement and education of fireproofing and fire-retardant solutions for life safety in the construction industry.
Throughout his career, Chris has played a pivotal part in educating various audiences within the building sector, including Architects, Building Officials, Fire Officials, and General Contractors across the United States and Canada.
Chris belongs to a family with a three-generation legacy in the building and construction trade. After earning his BSEE in 1988, he spent several years working with advanced technologies developed for the Federal Government and Fortune 500 companies.
