Helmet Fitter Training - 2 hr.
Instructor: Melanie Brocato, Broward Sheriff
(2 Contact hours approved for Fire Code Administrator, Fire Safety Inspector, and instructors)
This two-hour course is designed to promote bike safety and injury prevention. Once certified, helmet fitters will be eligible to receive free bike helmets and other bike safety materials for distribution to the community from the Florida Pedbike Resource Center, funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Melanie Brocato
Melanie Brocato is a professional public educator, serving Broward County for over 18 years. Melanie holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. She currently serves as a Life Safety Educator for Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, creating and delivering innovative public education programs for diverse populations. Melanie is a certified AHA CPR Instructor, Child Passenger Safety instructor, ACS Stop the Bleed Instructor, Certified Youth Firesetter Prevention Program Manager, and Fire Service Instructor I. Melanie specializes in teaching CPR, bleeding control, teen driver safety, child passenger safety, and a variety of fire safety education programs. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her dedicated service; most recently being recognized as the 2020 Broward Sheriff’s Foundation Fire Rescue Employee of the Year, 2019 Broward Sheriff’s Office Civilian Employee of the Year, 2017 Fire Inspectors’ Association Public Educator of the Year, and 2014 Florida Fire Chief’s Association Award of Excellence in Community Public Education.
