The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association:

A Day of Learning - Propane Emergencies - 8 hrs.
Propane Emergencies - 4 hrs. (8AM- Noon)
Dispensing Propane Safety - 2 hrs. (1PM - 3 PM)
Mobile Food Vendor Propane Safety - 2 hr. (3PM - 5PM)

PLEASE NOTE: This is day 2 of a 2-day event at this location.  If you are attending both days, you must register for each day separately.

The class will explore NFPA 1, NFPA 101, NFPA 54 and NFPA 58. Discussion on the correct installation to ensure safe and code compliant installations. This class will explore UG and AG tank requirements, anode installation, strapping installation, pad installation, pressure tests, discuss BLEVE conditions and threats.

This course will also discuss the following subjects:

  • Temporary food vendors, food trucks, and non-vehicle vendors along with the variety of installations an inspector may see
  • Propane cylinders, tanks, piping, appliances, codes and connections an inspector may see in the field
  • DOT transportation rules and regulations
  • FFMI Inspection rules and regulations and various fire codes for kitchen fire suppression and venting systems
  • Propane leak detection and mitigation

The class will explore the applicable aspects of NFPA 54 and NFPA 58 codes which cover the transportation and use of propane.

These courses combined result in Eight contact hours approved for Fire and Life Safety Educator, Fire Code Administrator, Fire Investigator I and II, and Fire Safety Inspector I and II, with this course.

Carl Weeks, Propane Training Services, LLC

Carl has over 41 years’ experience in the LP Gas industry, beginning his career in 1979 as a District Manager with Petrolane Gas Service in Englewood Florida. He received his Bureau of LP Gas 0601 License that same year. Carl has performed most tasks related to the industry including management of operations, delivery, installation, safety, finance, hiring and marketing.  

In 2009 Carl started Propane Training Services, a company that specializes in propane emergency response training for first responders and LP Gas personnel. Since May 2012 through November 2020, Carl has trained over 14,000 Florida first responders and 500 propane industry employees on how to handle and respond to propane related incidents. Propane Training Services currently offers eighteen CEU accredited classes through the Consumer Services LP Gas division and three propane emergency response courses registered with the Florida State Fire College.
