Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association presents

Understanding code related to and inspection of Distributed Antenna Systems for First Responder Communications - 4 hr.

The class has been approved for 4 CEUs for the Fire Inspector, Fire Code Administrator, Fire Investigator, Fire Instructor and Fire and Life Safety Educator.

Effective First Responder wireless communications is mandated by current fire codes for new and sometimes existing construction. Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) are typically the best way to accomplish effective and thorough wireless communications throughout the inside of a building. This course will review the essentials of what a DAS is, its components and how to effectively inspect it. RF (radio frequency) is a complicated subject. We can't see it, smell it or sense it in any way without the use of equipment designed for this purpose. We will cover ways to test the RF coverage, what to ask for from the integrator that installed the system, and review NFPA72 code sections that apply to these systems and what to look for on the physical installation.
